Canadian: born Prince Edward Island, raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Design Degree from School of Architecture, University of Manitoba, after University began world travel, settled in England; Lesley has 4 sons.


EARLY CAREER

1965-75 BBC TV Production Designer: designed many programmes including 'Top of the Pops', 'In Concert' & 'The Rise & Fall of Reginald Perrin'. Won 2 TV design awards.
1976 Moved with her family to Suffolk, England to start a small-holding, opened Netherfield Herbs - Plant Nursery and Garden Design
1977 Won a National Competition to design the first Herb Garden for the Chelsea Flower Show.
1984 Own garden opened to the public and featured in the English Tourist Board's 'Celebration of English Gardens', 'The Herb Garden', Herb Society's 'English Herb Gardens', 'Good Gardens Guide' 1990 onwards, 'Blue Guide to Gardens of England' 1991 onwards and the 'AA Book of Country Gardens 94'


TV WORK

1983 Designed a herb garden for BBC TV programme 'Pebble Mill at One'; joined their team to present 7 series on Herbs and Design (Live Television)
1984 Presented 5 programs on herbs for Life Style (Cable TV)
1987 Herb Guest twice on BBC TV's Gardener's World with Geoff Hamilton.
1989 Wrote and presented 'The World of Herbs' 5 part TV series for Channel 4 UK and made 3 Herb Videos. The series was shown on 19 TV networks including Canada, USA, Denmark, Japan
1990 onwards, Guest on several radio and TV programs BBC Radio 1, BBC 1, ITV
1998 Guest on Jane Asher's TV 'Good Living'
1998 Guest Julia Carling's TV Health & Beauty program 'Zest', twice

1991 World trip: use of native plants in Nepal, Thailand, Bali, Singapore, Japan, Denver USA, Belize, Brazil (Rio area & Amazon, Manaus) and Bermuda
1993 Research/lecture trip to Denmark & Norway, Spain and Portugal
1994 Kanab Canyon, Utah to study desert plants and sacred Native herbs.
